The Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of people within the company that will be the first responders against any sort of emergency situation. The prime objective of the CERT is to alleviate and control emergency situations before professional help (SCDF) arrives. Another aspect that the CERT has to take up is coordination with the SCDF, which will facilitate the rescue process.

The CERT has to act quickly in a developing emergency situation and follow previously established plans and procedures within the company’s Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in a calm and orderly fashion. This might be able to subdue the panic amongst people and allow the plans and procedures to be done in a safe manner.
